I just spoke with epson's tech support at the number you guys provided. They told me it doesn't improve the actual frame interpolation, rather sets the FI default to off. I hope that level 2 tech was mistaken and there will be some improvement.

It does change and significantly improves FI at the 'low' setting. There are two different software items included in the new files. One is the firmware update 1.09 and the other is a loader and macro program to change the FI function, although perhaps only for the 'low' setting.

I have also installed the 1.09 firmware and FI software. It is true that the default is not set for off but there is a significant improvement on the low setting with the new firmware/software. You don't get the "soap opera" look that was the big issue.
